How long ago? I bet that it would be nearly half that now, but who knows. There are so many factors that influence that amount, it is probably impossible to compare. I was being more sarcastic than anything. Doubt the estimate will be under a grand though. Unless you are getting it done on the side, body work ain't cheap. At minimum, the whole bumper needs to be painted + R&R.

Headlight bracket is busted and the grill too. The bumper chrome trim striping was also damaged and the trim under the headlight was bent upwards.

That was in '08. But even back then guys gvr4's were being totaled out with dollar figures much less than that. Insurance values for these cars has been a battle for what seems like forever now.

I had a vr4 get hit and totaled (while it was parked) back in 05 or 06. Initially insurance wanted to give me standard 6th gen price. I think it was about $900, give or take. Of course i balked at such a notion, and explained a little about the car, and how it's not just some 91 galant. They had me get some pricing around the US and wound up giving me a check for $4300.

I had a guy back into 1411 in 04 at a gas station. He didnt want to get insurance involved so he had me get two quotes. For a cracked left headlight lens, slightly bent lip on the hood and scratched bumper he wound up cutting me a check for $1600 and change.

I replaced the bumper and hood with spares i had on hand, replaced the headlights with a set of 93's from PnP, and spent the money on bills and whatever else.

I wouldn't be surprised to see an estimate for repairs on this little mishap to be in the neighborhood of 1500. They may want to total it, unless you have some discussion with the insurance company and explain that it's not just some shitbox base or LS Galant.

LMAO. Who gave you that, the old man's insurance adjuster? What a joke. That wouldn't even cover materials for a respray. Looks like you better get another estimate.

ya really they need to quote to replace the bumper, front trim under headlight, headlight, paint. should easly be over 1200-1400. that is if the bumper support isn't bent. or anything else for that matter. it would cost more to have them do the body work then replace all the bad components.

The quote was to basically buff it out and replace the chrome trim, bend the underheadlight trim back. But the bumper is bent under the fender on the side and the headlight is knocked out of place from where it was before. The alignment of it was always a little off, the car was likely in a fender bender at some point before, but it had been fully repaired.

Lol, figures. Did he even physically look at the car? You'd be surprised how many people would just say screw it, and take the initial estimate from the "other guy's" insurance company. That's half of the reason they low ball you to begin with. Go to a reputable shop, and get another quote.

Ripped the cruise control out of my car today, I really enjoy the heightened sensitivity of the gas pedal. Now it actually feels like a 4 cyl and not my truck.

Also installed the ghetto ebay strut bar that came with the car. I plan to replace it with a cusco or a Ultimate Racing one.

For something as stupid as that? I guess it would go good with the rest of the stupid crap I have done to my car so far.

I think I post a lot of pictures actually...

edit: I also found out where my missing coolant was going, my radiator cap leaks and slowly steams it all out.
