I'll probably chop it up or maybe if I can find one already cut up locally. I don't have the tools to do it myself right now.

Alright so, I will probably chop up the crash bar the way mitsuturbo did his, that looks like it may take a couple cutoff wheels though and a lot of time. I remembered I have an angle grinder so I can do this.

Or,

I can get this smaller intercooler click and cut out the lower 2/3 of the crash bar and run it that way. The intercooler I have will not fit unless I pretty much trip the top of the crash bar to a few cm thick.

Thoughts?

Stick with the core you have and cut the crash bar. Cutting the crash bar will be super easy, I just think you're psyching yourself out.

Probably, I just like to play it super safe. maybe too safe at times.

I'll probably rip the bumper off again in the next few days or during my next weekend (weds thurs fri) and trim it up. Maybe cruise for a few days with no front bumper. don't you know I drift this thing dude

The only sticker I'll put on my car. Most of you won't even know what it is.

Next up for the car is to repaint all the trim, probably shifter bracket and shift linkage bushings, and find time to try and install the FMIC again.

I know what it is! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Regarding crash bars again, I also chopped up the one on my Audi to fit a large front mount last summer. I cut out the entire middle section of the thick aluminum bar. It was a pain in my ass because it was so thick. The sawzall blades kept getting clogged with material. The steel GVR4 bar was much easier to cut in comparison.

So my car was almost involved in a major accident today, I escaped with only a scrape and slight crushing of the front bumper, no other damage to any other parts.

What happened is an old guy, 96 years old pulling out of a parking spot at the grocery store, I was driving through the parking lot. Seems like the guy forgot which one was the gas and the brake and mashed the gas pedal, rocketed out of the parking spot and he cranked the wheel, arc'd back towards the row of cars. I saw it coming and backed up, only a foot or two but there was a car behind me, all I could do was watch as the guy's car made a giant C and slammed into a few cars right next to me, probably doing 25-30mph. His front bumper just barely grazed mine, it would have been a whole different story if I didn't see it coming and back up. It all happened in the span of about 3-4 seconds, luckily I was creeping in the parking lot, and was able to stop and back up as much as I could suddenly.

Got the guy's insurance information and having it checked out soon hopefully. So I will be getting money for a new bumper at least and paint. Not sure if they can find another bumper but I can just pocket the cash and do it myself. Good thing I didn't take that crash beam out. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Have some pics

This maroon buick slammed into both those vans, the blue one was pushed into the accord behind it. Accord is all frame warped, probably totalled. Van is all smashed in too, rear wheel is canted all crazy. Those kids were about to get in it when the accident happened! Scary... could have been a lot worse. You can see the scuff on the front bumper from him grazing mine.

The damage to my car. Just a big scuff mark and the bumper is a little warped under the fender.

Holy sh*t. Glad that wasn't worse.

Time for a JDM bumper. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I got super lucky. After looking at the car again that trim piece under the headlights was pushed upward and the headlight was knocked out of place a bit. So there is some more damage, but I will let the adjuster look at it and see. I wonder if it is a good idea to have my insurance check it out also so I can make sure I'm getting a fair estimate.

I had a guy back into my car in '03. Hit right on the same corner. Bent up my JDM bumper a bit, and twisted the same piece as on your car. I got a check from dude's insurance, fixed the damage myself and used the money to have the whole car painted. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Here's what my car looked like:

Luckily the foggies weren't in the bumper at the time.

$2k as a side job for somebody. I have a different guy that does my paintwork now. The JDM front and rear bumpers, gas door, hood, grill, and the piece between the lights and bumper have all been painted by him. Better work, and great pricing. He works at the local Ford/Kia dealer body shop, and I know a bunch of the guys that work down there, including the manager, so he has no problem spraying my parts in the booths in his free time. In fact, TOM (that's his screen name) is actually a member on this forum and is also a buddy of mine. He's the guy that does all the parts ordering and procuring for the same shop.

Hopefully the $1000 dollar estimate doesn't total it out /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif

When I bought Teeter's car (503) he told me that his insurance gave him like $5500 as a totaled out price. Not bad. Then he bought it back for cheap I'm guessing. Then I bought it for $1k.
