The ultimate street galant in the making? Cheekychimp's

Evo wheels are 8in +35 and they fit without a problem... Those cant be much wider than 8ins.

They are 8 x 18. But I have nothing to adjust camber up front and the 3KGT trailing arms and hubs up back increase the track a bit there. We'll see how she looks once she's back on the ground and take it from there.

I would think camber plates up front would be cheaper than flares, as well as better for performance to be able to dial in some negative camber. Out back, gvr4's wheel/tire combos usually sit in the fenderwell a bit more anyway, so increasing the width could actually make it look more even with the front.

Mark,

That's a good point! I have Andre's control arms at the back so I can play with camber there, and I too am hoping this 'wider track' might eliminate that unbalance between front and rear wheels that I too have noticed. I just had a bad experience with front camber plates on the VR4 before. I think the bearings had gone and the continuous tap tap tap from right in front of me under the hood drove me insane. I've always liked the idea of fender flares but if EVO 8 wheels fit I would have thought these will too. I think we need to get the suspension under load and re-evaluate. I'd appreciate your input when we get there. It will need some bodywork anyway.

Paul.

Not sure what sort of "look" you are into with cars Paul, but if you want "fitment" like some of the vr4 owners here (and the drifters!), I definitely wouldn't be going for fender flares. Even if they don't fit with your alignment, you can probably just roll and "pump" the guards a mm or two using a guard roller.

This thing has to be getting closer and closer to being parted out.

Wouldn't it make sense to just save some effort and not waste time shipping all this really cool stuff over to China?

Doesn't that thing weigh enough already?!

I got your door trim and it will be on the way to Curtis soon.

Can I get a discount on your partout? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The only reason you never sold your car is because no-one wants a purple one /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif

Front brakes are done, rear swaybar has been modified to fit, driveshaft coupler has been machined and now fits. Intercooler piping is on, battery has been relocated to the trunk.

I can't guarantee this car will be light, but it will definitely run.

I'll get that address to you.

I ought to be banned for not getting off my ass. She is pretty much ready to run. I am supposed to be taking the interior in to get it fitted but I want to get the gauges mounted in the dash pod and fix it before I take the dash in. I have three days off starting Saturday so I'm hoping to get a few ends finished up.

I can't finish the interior without some bits from Curtis but I will get the front seats mounted and then she should actually run!!!

She runs !!!

Stock MAS, stock turbo and radiator, 550 injectors, stock ECU, stock TB, intake and exhaust manifolds but she runs.

Interior is being fitted with stock seats for inspection, then we'll start tidying a few things up and start adding more kit a piece at a time.

Larger injectors, DSMLink, then the COP and CDi, then the turbo, new manifold and header, oil system etc. New rad and water lines will go in at some point too.

Sounds stock. Can't even hear the 272s, hell the V6 was more lumpy than this! Sorry that I got no video but it kind of caught me by surprise.

The car needs to go for inspection by October and we got stalled because of a friggin' driver's side A/C vent of all things. I picked up a USDM passenger vent on my trip last year thinking it would fit, but when I came to putting the dash back together a few weeks ago I realized it doesn't work like that. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif

So anyhow I ordered a new vent and Ken asked me to bring the interior down for him to fit whilst we were waiting on the vent. I pulled all the stuff to take down today, and when I get down there he says, "Look!" Turns the key and she fires up like she has never even been on stands, just purred there in the background whilst we talked.

Crazy.
