Tiffany from the metal supplier called at 4 today and the angle is on order but has to come from another supplier and want be here till next week.
I was ordering aluminum 2.5 angle and 3 inch angle 1/8 inch thick. None of there suppliers can get it anymore since its not a very common item so I had to move up to 3/16 its double priced but she said she's giving me a deal on the 1x1 square so I'll eat the extra since I have so many wanting these.
Now I bought enough 1 x 1 for 30 sets of seat brackets. The way I'm building these they will work for evo seats and probably any other after market seat on the market if not it want take much to modify the front brackets for anything to work in the car. This price is good on this run. Its alot of set up on my mill and different cuts and welds and I want be doing another run because of the amount of work verses the cost of materials next time.
Here's the steps I have to do yes I plan out every step in my head to see how much time it takes. Maybe someday I'll draw it up in free body diagram forms like JNR. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I have to rough cut to size
cut each angle on the 1x1
reset up for perpendicular cuts
cut the other end square
mill the slots in the 1x1
rought cut the angle for the inboard rear
mill the end
mill the angle
cut the slot
build the jig
tig weld the small angle to the 1 x 1
Now the fronts
rough cut the 2.5 inch angle
rough cut the 3 inch angle
mill the ends
mill the 2.5 down to a smaller size
mill the angles on the edges that will connect together
cut the slots for the mounts
For 30 sets to sell thats 60 1x1's to do, 60 small 1x1's, 180 inches of weld and 120 2.5 angles to prep and 120 3 angles to prep.
That's a hell of a lot of cuts, set ups and steps only reason I'm doing it is because its a group buy.
I'm getting the square tubing for what they paid for it years ago. Material price will be about 4 times as much next time or more, so I really don't foresee a next time.
So if you want in on this run put your name on the list, at the rate things are moving I'm not going to be done until probably the first of February or shortly there after. I'm building the amount on the list and that's it. I have a project here at the house I can use the square stuff on if the names don't show up and the amount of work on each set out weights the amount of stuff I need to do to get caught up. There's no reason to spend a week or more building something that may never sell or sell in a year or 2 when I have other things I need to get done.
With that said I have 17 spots filled and 13 open right now after that .....thats it.
To all of those so far on the list and to future add on's
Thanks
