I did the same thing on the last Colt that I built. I went way overboard detailing stuff that was completely blocked from site once the engine was back in. Still gave me a sense of accomplishment knowing that I did my best though. Your car is looking great!

Thanks! I am definitely getting a little crazy with painting some of these brackets and things, but it will be really nice knowing that 1803/2000 will be one of the nicer ones out there!

If all goes well, I should be able to get the dash installed this weekend. I'm quite pumped for that because I have never seen a dash installed on this car!

Tada! Dash is bolted in.

To answer your question: I'm going to assemble it some more so that I don't have 10,000 loose parts in my garage anymore, and then I'll sell it. The final status of it will depend on when I get a good $ offer/trade! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Until that happens, I will likely keep building it.

I am finally wrapping up my major house/life projects for the summer, which means I can exist again. I apologize for the delay, and leaving you on the edge of your seat.

This week I got my flywheel machined so that I can finally throw the engine and trans together and stuff them into the car

I also glued the dash back together because it was lifting around the defrost vent. It worked surprisingly well. Gorilla Glue FTW.

Tonight I install the windshield! First time for me. Hope I don't smash it.

Done. It was easier than I thought it would be.

Any buyers yet? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I want to build something from the 1930's.

I checked my compression on the mystery engine last night.

150.130.150.100.

So then I did a leakage test. Here is the result. link

I am hoping that it may be due to the adjustable cam gears being misaligned.

Looks like you had the special "high compression" valves. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jawdrop.gif

Yeah, once all the carbon was removed, all looked great. I did replace two intake valves that were a little wonky looking, but overall, the head is probably the cleanest one I have owned. I should be able to get it back on the block tonight, which means I can recheck the compression and cylinder leakage. I can't wait!

Great news!

Here are the compression numbers in order...

150 - 155 - 150 - 155

WINNING!

If all goes well, I will have the engine in the car and running in the next two weeks.

Thanks! It is coming out pretty nice! I'll be thrilled when it is drivable again, because I don't believe it has been on the road since ~2001.

Small update:
- Engine cleaned
- Engine painted
- New rear main seal installed

- Has a forward facing oil filter housing now
- New windshield trim clips ordered because all the originals were missing/broken (shrug)
