Installing fuel pump

Where exactly am I going to replace this? The car is pretty well apart with no seats. Is it in the trunk?

I have been looking for an install guide but so far haven't seen much.

Thanks

Hey that link is dead...I was looking around here and found a dead link too.

Do you have any others?

Thanks for giving me a rough location on it though, I do appreciate it.

Its in the trung on the drivers side. Take out the floor carpet and theres a lack metal cover. Unscrew it and voila! to install, follow the link /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have heard this too and searched it to death. This is the conclusion that I am coming to as well!

The 1G fuel pump design has the ports on opposite ends, that's why a 2G/Evo fits, they share the same design as us.

Pretty clear....So if I am getting one for a 2g there are still minor differences aren't there?

Also, do I need an install kit or just the pump?

Thanks

my car used to be e85(might be again) so it has two 3kgt fuel pumps in tank. what a b*tch to install.

Quoting 524of1000:
I have the 1g Walboro 255 in mine and it required NO modification to fit, save a screw that was corroded and replaced.

Was it a 1g awd or fwd pump though? My research is showing that a 1g fwd pump is the same as a 2g awd pump.

The 1G FWD is different than the AWD, but it is a different Walbro install kit number than the 2G or GVR-4 for some reason. The 1G AWD pump is the oddball though, which feeds from the opposite side. The Walbro install kit numbers are:
1G AWD - 400-857
1G FWD - 400-883
2G - 400-847
I *think* the GVR-4 also uses kit #400-847

I think the GVR4 might use 400-857 for the kit. Thanks for all of the part numbers.

There really is alot of confusion on this. I'd rather be confused here than when I am doing the pump though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I bit the bullet and ordered the 190 lph 2g pump and the 1g harness. Hopefully I'll remember to come back and report what actually happened when I get around to the install!

Thanks!

Does anybody actually know what pump works? Because I have the opportunity to buy a 255 for $50 brand new, but it's for a 2g. Just wondering if it will work.

I'd try searching for "GSS". I've discussed this in a few threads, but I believe the 2g pump is actually correct for the vr4. The 1g pump is not. Hopefully someone can confirm this. I know I uploaded a pic of the two at one time showing the difference and how the 2g one was the same as the VR4.
Look here too.
