The 4 bolt lsd axles have two different length splines that go into the diff, and the non-lsd have the same length, correct?

Yes, one side has two-step splining to engage the viscous LSD.

FYI, at least on 3 bolt LSDs, BOTH half shafts are specific to the LSD rear end. I'd assume the same goes for 4 bolts.
