A while back (so far you can't even search for it anymore) a different user showed progress he was making on 1667. I found this very unusual as I HAVE #1667!! Back then we both posted our plaques and I posted my key fob as well.
My 1667 is black, no sunroof. I'm not giving my VIN not until I see that this informatin is benefiting the entire community and not just a few people.

Question- I noticed that aside from the 10th digit and the last 6 digits of our vin's, the 9th digit is always different. what does the 9th digit indicate? Any parallels to any options our cars have?
I'd love to see the master list when you've finished compiling the info. What kind of info will the list contain? Just vehicle info, or some personal info, like owner name and location?
BTW, I sent you my vin and badge #, iceman, but I forgot to include that the car is Nile Black, with sunroof and with factory cd player.

The 9th digit is a calculated "check" digit. According to the federal law that created this VIN method starting in 1980, you use a numerical formula involving certain digits of the rest of the vin to calculate a number between 1 and 10 (with ten represented as an "X"). This allows law enforcement to actually check if a VIN is legit, or created.
Tondar, I remember that situation with two 1667s. We need to figure that one out. BTW, I don't think anyone intends to "benefit" from this individually, just the GVR4 community as whole. I intend it in the long run to be reference that helps people prove the originality of their vehicles. If you feel more comfortable, pm me the VIN privately. I would like to research and find out why there may be two with the same #.
