I thought about that, but as mentioned rust isn't a huge issue in AZ. If need be I have a buddy that has some chemical that you just spray over bare metal to keep it from flash rusting while doing body work. That should be good enough.

Or, you could just replace them with stainless steel, if that were an issue...Speaking of rust, I was thinking the other day, sure we don't worry about rust, but the sun kills things quickly! (of course, it's not an issue on the headlights' paint/hardware)

Mike, I hate you. Here's my Gaylant hiding it's shameful gimp and lack of proper sheet metal, and you're just up the road doing tasty things like making pretty lights look even prettier.

I tell you, man. Once I have some sheet metal back into place, I'll be calling you up to help with the resurrection. I think this will be 195/2000's third resurrection since I've owned it. (Fourth over all, as far as I can tell.)

PS - Dibs on the old lights. I have nothing to bolt them to for now, but I'm definitely interested in them. Me need lights!

I am currently doing the other side and taking detailed pictures for a how to. I also received my HID's last night so if I can get all this painting done I will install them with HID's tonight.

 

You suck, I want HID's. What "kelvin" (sp?) did you get? Where at and how much?

Are you concerned with the cut off point? Do you plan to remedy this by modifying the inside at all?

I order 5K but got 6K. I was worried at first, but I installed one to make sure they worked and it is a nice white color after all.

I just got a retrofit kit from Ebay nothing fancy. I'm not to worreid about the cut off since I am using the 93 headlights. They work pretty well with HID from what I have seen and I don't really feel the need to hack them up for a projector just yet.

After spending ALL day finishing the other light and fixing the first one I am done. I took a ton of pictures and will make a how to sometime this week.

Looks good but what kind of light pattern are from the HID's?

They don't have the perfect cutoff that a true projector would have, but with the 93 headlights they don't scatter the light everywhere either.

What's the deal with the donor set of 93 lights? Did we get one? I believe I have another set somewhere in the garage. If they're still needed I'll see if I can dig them up.

Damn I was hoping your write up included you removing the glass lense from the housing. Are the two pieces glued together? Anyone know if we have to bake them to seperate them? The chrome reflector area inside mine is peeling in some spots.

Yes baking works everything has to be removed and then do one at a time and cook at 175 for 20 minutes try and retry may have to go up to 200 degrees for about 5 minutes at a time. I've typed up how to's two or three times just do a search of my name. Use gloves and have an assortment of scrappers new razors and screwdrivers handy. Its an all day job to do a set and to build projector ones takes a week because of drying time of the paint.

Ok cool. I am not doing projectors, more just cleaning up the peeling chrome and refurbing the whole unit.

Curtis what would you suggest for the peeling chrome on the inside? I am going to try and find some chrome spray paint. There are only a few small areas of peeling so I should be able to blend it in and once the glass is on no one should be able to tell the difference.
