Curtis, the wrist pins were standard tapered pins. I talked with CP tech guy today to discuss pin options. Turns out the pistons/pins we were running in 431 were only rated to 650-750 max crank HP. According to CP the off the shelf production pistons come with the Non-heavy duty wrist pins. 431 had a set of off the shelf stoker pistons – guy was surprised how long they held together !! Guess 431 made more than 751 crank HP <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Are you using anything special to hold the breaks? How much boost and rpm do you get before they let loose?

We use a vacuum pump to hold the car back at the line. Depending on the turbo on the car we leave at 12-16psi of boost around 4000-4500 rpm.

^ common on auto cars that drag race nowadays.

Sorry to see the carnage. Can't wait to see it back together and better than before.

big cam = very little vacuum. Poor brake booster needs a little help. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Damn Nelson. I think you surpassed "windowing" the block and went straight for windows, doors and a skylight! Sucks to see, but glad you have an upgrade/rebuild plan already in the works.

All I can say is WOW! Too bad, but you have to expect interesting results when pushing the envelope this hard.

Some times there are human errors and other times parts fail - its all part of racing !! most people only post the good things (high HP, fast 1/4 mile time) but the reality is anyone that's pushing the envelope has failures from time to time.

Man some ducktape and your good. You still have some cylinder wall and you can straighten out the oil squinter....fly that ho bitch she's still making more hp on 3 1/4 cylinders than some 35R cars on here /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif

Did you guys miss the part about me running 10 injectors with dsmlink? I also have a four channel peak and hold EGT setup that I got for less than $500 with the sensors.

There are lots of things I like about DSMlink and lots of things I don't like about DSMlink....it's not "perfect".

DSMlink doesn't have a way to scale the speed density map such that we 'ignore" all tuning between say 20psi and 40psi where I don't give a flying F about it because it runs in that range for literally .5 seconds in first gear. I need tuning resolution between 40psi and 60psi of boost and between vacuum and 20psi of boost. In between is irrelevant. Right now we run 48psi of boost and run on the bottom load row of the speed density map from trap to shutdown. There is no tuning resolution at all with our current setup.

We also don't have enough additional inputs. I'd like to log fuel pressure, a second wideband, 4 EGT's,exhaust back pressure, two air temps, two auxiliary water temps for the intercooler, and eventually driveshaft HP.

Insane. Well, now you can build her stronger than before. Take everything you know and break your old records. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif
