No, it won't make your paint fade. I don't know where that information came from, but it is definitely not true. I have 5 years / 70k miles to prove it.
HOWEVER, it has made this glue/filler between the skeleton and the top skin brittle, crack and fall out. Your hood will sound like a rain maker when you open it and little 1" pieces of black/brown glue will fall into your engine bay.
