ceased motor bottom end not sure how it ceased pics?

Quoting brandonechols:
No, the OP's thread title and post.

He was trying to type seized but posted ceased. They sound similar and in this case mean essentially the same thing. Like they say "Spell check does not an education make."

That being said, good luck putting it back together.

Joy.

I'm with toybreaker on this one. Even if you don't have the wherewithall to do the templates, egg cartons, and noting which hardware should be inspected closer at assembly time, you should - at a minimum - be tagging and bagging things. If nothing else, stop at Fry's or Walgreens or something on your way home tonight and pick up a Sharpie marker and a box of ziploc sammich bags. You will be glad you did!

Go through the loose nuts/bolts you've got lying about right now and bag them while you still have an idea where they go. A month or six weeks from now - believe me - you will not be so sure. You might have a mind like a steel trap, but I'm here to tell you, you're already balls deep in the biggest steel trap of your life. Don't slack off for a second. (Look where it got the previous owner!)

Before you pull those bearings, do as toybreaker suggests and start testing what spins and what does not. Be slow and careful as you do this. One slip-up and your budget vanishes with a resounding "CLINK!" Lose the timing belt. Can you move either cam (using a wrench on the end of the gear - again, carefully)? Can you move the crank? What about the oil pump?

When you start breaking things down, keep those bearings together and in order. Get good pictures of them and post them here.

And good luck.

I've never thought about egg cartons but I don't think I will be doing that. It would just take one kick for that to be a disaster. I'm a zip lock guy.

I use them both.

I've learned that used oil will cause most magic marker marking to run/smear/dissapear on small baggies, so I always keep that in mind.

For engine bearings, using eggcartons keeps the pairs together and won't let them touch and damage each other.

The bearing face is very soft and the back of the shell is steel, so if you stick them in the same bag, it's almost a gaurantee that one of the shells will be damaged. Doesn't matter on junk used bearings, but if youre going to re-use anything, you're better off to just use a carton. When you close and latch the lid, nothing can move, even if they fall off the table.

Also, the valvetrain stuff fits into a pair of the eighteen pac egg cartons, and it really makes things easier than mucking about with baggies. You can just reach in and grab a complete spring stack with lower shim and retainer and just transfer it right onto the head. Works a charm, and you know if you have any parts leftover to re-check your work.
