I would strongly suggest you first tear up a NON vr4 cluster, since the VR4 cluster isn't exactly "commonplace" and they are virtually identical. Non vr4 clusters are quite easily found at junkyards.

Are non vr-4 clusters color changing also? I'm looking for a cluster also.

non vr4 are also color changing. the only difference between a vr4 and a non vr4 is the boost gauge

Galants that had the 4G63 DOHC engine had the color changing dash.
VR4, GS, GSR and GSX
Galants that had the 4G63 SOHC engine did not come with the color changing dash-Most galants produced had this engine.
89-92 only.
