VDO Gauge Mount - wtf - puzzle time!

Alright, so i am working on a gauge project for 1870 and i ran into a small problem. how in the hell do these go together? i like vdo, really i do but why the hell didnt they give me any directions?! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif so for any of you that have experience with this or if any of you have any ideas how this goes together... please chime in. to toot my own horn im good with these type of puzzles and combination but im stumped... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I see your an MGD man as am I. Maybe that was the problem not figuring it out right away, boy have I been in that boat a few times. always funny the next day. Used to wax the cbr and car while drinking saturday afternoons, only to find dried wax everywhere still and on windows and plastic the next day. Started smoking and trying to fix stuff but ended up sitting and staring at it for an hour while listening to "poker face" on repeat and then that had to end /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

the vdo single gauge pod can also be used as a weapon where as the prosport pod, not so much(heavy in weight). the prosport gauges fit in the vdo pod and can be mounted but the back screw as seen in my last posts will need some tweaking of the vdo internal gauge mount. take a look at the pictures, you will notice how the V shape VDO bracket sticks out. also, it seems prosport uses the same size gauge casing for its electrical gauges where the mechanical boost is shorter.

i hear the good and bad about prosport but i wanted to give them a honest go. i figured you guys might like to see more these products in their raw form and maybe shoot me some ideas how to get these prosports mounted in these vdo pods. yes i have some prosport gauge pods but these vdo's will look cleaner where i want to mount them /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

finally mounted/mocked up the gauges. sorry its a bad pic, i guess the camera didnt like to be dropped... VDO pod countersunk ~3/4". still need to drill behind the mount for the wires. should look semi clean and i didnt have to cut/drill into the dash.

pulled the dash to install the center a/c vent.



left to right: oil pressure, water temp mounted with cheap prosport pods and boost, egt mounted with steel vdo pods. i think i might get the speaker pod unit from our friend at tuner nation.

i used a hole saw on the speaker cover, sunk the prosport pods and JBwelded the base to the speaker grill plastic. i dremeled a slot on dash gauge cluster shroud? and sunk the vdo's into it using 3 square wood paint stirring sticks. ducktaped the stick squares together and used a bench grinder i squared them up and then drilled a hole into them. i grounded down the top of the bolts (not shown int he pictures - all i really had laying around) so i didnt get a rattle from the pod.

i know it looks ghetto but its really sturdy.
