Radial/Directional, as in those tires go a specific side. Usually they are labeled with an arrow showing you which direction the tread is going.

The R doesn't mean the tire is directional

r is just stands for the radial construction of the tire. with many high performance tires there will also be directional markings on the tire however the r is only for the construction
