Stock wheels - best looking tire size

Hi All,

I'm returning the AMG Galant wheels back to standard.
The Racing Hart 18" rims are going.

I need the comfort of a small wheel/fat tired car as I am making it a family car.

What do you guys advise to be the best looking 15" tire?
I'm thinking 205-60-15?

I've got coil overs so I'll drop it accordingly. Not too low obviously but low enough to not look like a truck.

Any advice and photo evidence appreciated.

This isn't going to help much because I am not 100% sure on this tyre size but I am pretty sure these were 215/65/15 that I had on the old AMG rims.

You are probably making a smart move for the daily by the way. My ride got decidedly less comfy going to 17s but I prefer the feel of the GTO brakes. I will definitely be going to a 40 or 45 height if possible at the next tyre change though.

Nevermind i got this all messed up. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif i had 205/40/17 n changed them to 215/45/17 lol my bad /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gifMy 2 cents

Curious - What is the AMG wheel width?

I believe 91 and 92 USDM wheels were 15x6 and came with 195/60/15 tires.

Is the AMG wheel wider? If not, here is something to consider. If you put wider tires on there - after a point, cornering will suck and its like rolling on balloons.

The 2 possible choices I can think of are 205/55-15 and 205/60-15. I would not go past 205. If I were to pick, I would do 205/55/15. I would soften your suspension after that if its still rough. Also, these tires will display their limits real quick with stiffer suspension.

I think 215 looks better than 205. 205 is to low of a tire. I had 205 on my 17's n changed them to 215 looks better n rides better. My 2 cents

Wait, what? Care to explain more...

AMGs are also 15x6. I had 195/60s on my sawblades.

205/60's are good, but you're going to want something with a good, stiff sidewall. I ran 205/60/15 Falken Ziex 512's on 1411, and they were noticeably soft as hell in corners. I previously ran Bridgestone potenzas RE92's in that size as well, and they were much better. It's going to set your speedo off just a bit, but it's less than 10% IIRC.

Yeah I would stick with 195/60 R15 or go with 205/55 R15 (slightly smaller than OE rolling diameter) or step up to 205/60 R15 (slightly taller than OE rolling diameter).

I run Bridgestone Potenza G-III's in 205/60 R15 on the stock rims on my VR-4

YUP, but I go to a lot of stage rallies and spectate/volunteer/photograph so I didn't want the car super low. My Talon is "stanced" better for the street. The car rides fantastic too. Its super comfy for long hauls on the highway.

I like the look of these.
Can you confirm the size at all?

I need to order tyres soon.

Otherwise I'll be going the safe route of 205 60 15.

Comfort over looks. Comes with age.

This is my next choice. I really do not like skinny tired cars... just like my taste with girls.. gotta have some curves...

205/60-15 Dunlop SP Sport Fast response. Car has bc racing coils under, lowered about 20mm. I drive in gravelroads and snow/icetrack so what's why not lower.
