removing ground effects, finding rust, and removing rust?

Update: Found rust, want to remove rust. Have welder, cut and weld in new?

Sorry for the simple sentence. I figure it's a simple as cut and weld in new, but I could use some tips/ details. What gauge sheet metal do I need? How do I form it?
I imagine I don't need to say where I found the rust... I get pics later.

any tips on how to remove them? probably just pull, but I would like to break as few clips as possible, pull from the bottom, side? The dogleg covers come off fine, what do you call the ones in the rear? and are they all clips, tape?

I broke some clips, in the front and rear doglegs. Can these still be purchased anywhere? Or should I just rely on tape?

Jnz and the dealer still can get them. I have part numbers and prices ill post later.

Now, how to remove the door moorings? Those seem to really be stuck on there and I don't want to break them...

If you want, pull the door card and you can see most of the clips from inside and you may be able to push from the inside.

But I just started on a corner and pulled gently working back and forth. They will pop out.

The proper name of the inside skin (consists of armrest/window switches/door pull/speaker grill/fabric trim/etc...) of a door is called a "card".

Not to be devil's advocate, but you are partially correct.

"A door card (in British English) or a door panel (in American English) is an insert on the door of a car that covers the door's internal components."
I call it "the interior door panel". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

But as stated before you should be able to remove the door cladding by starting at the bottom door edge & gently pull outward.
