Oil cooler delete

I should probably name this "Yet another oil housing thread"...

For those of you older Mitsu guys that have been around. Have you read or done the oil housing cooler delete? Where do you guys get the threaded pipe from that the filter threads on to? From what I can see the 90 housing threaded pipe is fixed.

I was looking at something like this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TRD-1024/

But 15$ for just a threaded pipe? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif What size is it? how long would it need to be?

Oh and don't post "just go with a 90 housing". No, okay? :p I have my reasons...

I run the stock cooler housing with no rubber coolant lines going to it. Waiting to complete my 90 cooler parts list.

here's mine, but I can't clear my downpipe with the n/t housing, so I'm running forward facing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Thank you all for your suggestions.

I believe I have figured out a solution to my problem. The oil relocation kit I ordered has the part that fits the bill. I simply installed it on my oil housing and ordered another fitting from the manufactures replacement parts catalog/section.

My goal here was, maximum flow pipe 90º bends (not hard angle bends) and reduced heat from the down pipe. Do you guys think I will run into any heat issues from the DP or should I fabricate a heat shield for good measure?

It is a valve that routes the oil right back to the engine until it reaches 180*. Then the valve opens and allows the oil to go to the cooler. Cold oil is bad.

The 90 style oil filter housing has a built in valve also if you are using that.

Should have gotten a 90 OFH /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif

Nah just kidding. But anyone want to go into more detail about this forward facing housing?

Valve built into the coolant type? Where?

When people say "90style oil cooler" they mean the OEM air/oil cooler that came on 1990 DSM's, not the sammich style water/oil cooler you posted a picture of.

It's built into both the 90 and 91+ housings. It's either the brass plug or the other one. One is temp regulated and the other is pressure regulated I believe.

Wrap the exhaust pipe/dp with ThermoTec heat wrap.

Cool that answered all my questions. The valve statement scared me there for a second. I think I have some wrap laying around somewhere.
