Man I'm not sure a vr4 is the correct way to be introduced to Mitsubishi haha. Read a lot is all anyways can tell you.

Anyways give us some history on the car, and yourself. More importantly, pictures.

(of the car)... Unless you're between the ages of 18 and 30, female, with a big rack.

Well hope you know a little about cars and own some tools cause your ganna need them.

Word of advice check oil level constantly just cause it doesn't smoke doesn't mean its not burning it do proper maintenance and use quality parts not cheap autozone/oreilys parts that are made in china I perffer NAPA auto parts a little more expensive but better quality not saying it has to be OEM but use good brands.

Things I would check TIMING BELT if its not OEM or Gates replace that asap check suspension
axles rear end oil leaks 4ws lines.

Hope you own a floor jack and some stands /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif

You're going to sweat, bleed and maybe even cry if you own a GVR4 for long. Make sure you have screwdrivers, prybars, 8, 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21, 24, 27, 32 and 36mm sockets and wrenches, and it wouldn't hurt to have 11, 13, 15 and 18mm as well, in case someone's replaced some bolts on the car with nonstandard sh*t somewhere.

If you do ALL your own work, at some point you'll need snap ring pliers, micrometer, dial indicator, good torque wrench, pickle fork, and possibly a press and bearing splitters. EVERYTHING needs work on these cars, being as old as they are, and it's usually hundreds of dollars cheaper to do it yourself.

Due to the age of the cars, check for rust big time. How far south are you? It might be okay. Pop off the cover in the truck for the fuel pump and see how bad it is. I honestly think the age of the car and problems are okay to deal with, as long as you start with a clear car.

hey MT, you forgot one very vital tool: the BFH /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif other than that, i'd say you hit it all right on the head.

OP: good luck with your new venture!

mine was a teal 92 auto TSi AWD, it was technically my first car, but i never drove it. i was like 13 or so and my father got it with a blown motor in it, he gave me some tools and let me have fun. i have been completely addicted ever since, if there is a period of time i don't have a running DSM or VR-4 i kinda go crazy because i miss them.

My first Dsm "mitsu" was a 91 awd talon. Bought 9 years ago with a bad trans for $2500. But it was mint in and out 10 out of 10 and completely stock. It was my baby I miss that car. And ever since then I've had 5 1g's ,2 gvr4's, 1 2g n/a, 1 89 mirage with a 4g63t swap and a 97 mirage ls. Now I'm by no means a mechanic of any kind on these cars but I love them I love to drive them, love the look, love the 4g63 and live the specialness and rareness of these cars. Not everyone has them. Un like Hondas that everyone and there mother and grandmother has one. I love that people ask me what kinda of car that as is. As they have no clue because its not a Honda.
Op enjoy the car they're fun
