If youre planning to hit 30psi, or really anywhere north of 25-ish, id say a tad on the thicker side to bump the compression down a tad. A thinner HG would effectively raise the compression ratio, and there for the cylinder pressures creating more power, but would be more rough on the rotating assembly. Granted at most youd see a 1/2 to 3/4 increase of a point for the thinner HGs, but it may be enough to make it "iffy".

Just my .02 though. Everyone has different opinions!

i agree with Jake on this one. i run a fat 1.6 mm cometic on my stock block setup. probably could have gotten away with a 1.3 because of the low compression, but better safe than sorry. also, like Jake stated, a thinner HG will up the compression a little bit.

then again, 30 psi on what? a 14b or a 35r? turbo selection will create different cylinder pressures due to differences in air flow. so that's something else to consider too.

I have run evo gaskets on cars I have built, with no issues.

I would run the standard Evo3 MLS gasket over any of the Cometics. I've used a few with ok results, but some have problems. Hard to beat OEM parts. I've run almost 40psi through my Mitsu gasket.

You said stock, but does that mean machined at all?

its no stocker, my mistake. i bought it last November non running with just a turn over and compression numbers. brought it home and started her up. i then pulled the valve cover due to curiosity and found a hot tanked & rebuilt, very clean head.

yes it has been machined. i dunno /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif i have no history on the car other than, it's sat since 2001 after a head rebuild for whatever reason. its mine now and i would like to have some safe, sound fun sooooo... i revised the fuel system(this is where it started, stock system was junk), big'er inter-cooler & piping, pte sc34, V3 full, meth kit. at this point the direction i was headed was pretty clear... i was now worried about lifting the head and decided to get arp hardware and a head gasket that can support the above changes.

now since the heads gonna come off, i picked up engnbldr's ss valve(stock spec) guides & revised lifters, also jumped on a set of bc1100's & tit retainers.

right now im thinking, rock the e16g, get used to v3, pick up a long block and put together the inevitable. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif
