Lowering springs?

I have search through the archives to find really nothing about spring suggestions other than Whiteline. I would like to lower my car about 1" in the front and about 1.2" in the rear. Thank you for your time. Has anyone ever cut their stock springs and if so how bad was it? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jawdrop.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jawdrop.gif

You can do various combinations of 1G AWD and Evo 8 springs or Evo 9 suspension can be adapted... Vr-4 specific coilovers: tein, jic, k-sport, etc. etc.

Quoting blacksheep:
H&R will not level car out like you want, gurrrl. You will need to take half a coil or out more in the rear to level it out.....

Yes, but for the money and time involved, H&R is the best option.

I have a full H&R set on my car. If you want the rear to sit lower (as KC said), cut a coil off the rear. Super easy to do because of the way they are made. They are progressive coiled units and just remove a coil from the "tighter" end.

This is what your car will look like with KYB GR2 struts

The H&R "sport" springs will drop the car 1.5" all around without a single other mod.

BTW - those tires/rims are 17" with 215/45/17 rubber.

I went throgh this when I had my Galant and went with the Whitelines. IMO if I buy a lowering spring I should have to cut coils to get it to lower the car. Unfortunatly Whiteline springs aren't available anymore so your only opiton maybe H&R.

If I were to do it again I would go with EVO VIII suspension with EVO specific lowering springs. If you are interested I still have a full set of EVO suspension already converted for use in a GVR4 with less than 5K on them.

I suppose you had them on your galant? How much drop over stock did it give you? I guess you may be looking to sell them?

I did the H&R with KYB GR2's with one dead coil cut out of the rear to level it out. Check out my pics after the JDM bumper install to see how it looks. Also, don't go with the GR2's with those springs. The struts were shot after about 2 years. Use the AGX's, they are a better match for the springs.

Do you still have the evo 8 suspension for the gvr4 still available? I'd like to buy it. Figured I'd ask.

That's investing. Either way, KYB only warranties shocks on stock springs. I went with AGXs as well, ended up using the softest setting. Still firm, but very steerable. I didn't cut a rear coil, and it seems like it settled over time. Might have a slight rake, but not as tall after the install. I left it alone in case I just happen to load the trunk and have people in the back. Probably won't happen, but just in case.
