Hi fellas. New to these cars. We actually just got a 90 Galant GSX 106,000 miles. It's been sitting for 5 years prior to us having it and only we had it for a year. It's in very nice condition imho. Don't know what it'll take to make it turbo, but with a bit of research I bet I'll know more. I assume it'll be better swapping it. Anyways a problem is that at cold start it won't idle. I'd have to give it a bit of gas to keep it on at idle otherwise while driving it seems good. Once warmed up it will stay keep idle normally like any other car. How would I go about fixing this? This is a iacv problem on this engine yes? My buddie suggested that I clean it. Also it's a bit weird, sometimes the cel comes on randomly and turns off. Obviously something is wrong at times, will the code be readable after the light is not on anymore?

Yes, the code is readable/stored. Look at www.vfaq.com for the procedure. You'll need a voltmeter/light/piezo.

Your issue is probably related to the FIAV (fast idle air valve), the BISS (base idle set screw) leaking, or the coolant temperature sensor.

While you are at VFAQ.com, look for the FAQ that tells you how to adjust the BISS screw to set the idle. It could just be that the BISS screw is turned in too far.
It is also very common for the Idle Speed Controller(ISC) stepper motor to go bad, or the ECU to have suffered damage that renders the ISC non-functional. The FAQ covers tests for the ISC also.
