Hi,
I did my search and from what I have read so far, most have used the bushing from their old rear
struts/shock from the galant vr4 or a 1g awd to convert the rear struts/shock from the evo. My question is, does the bushing really need to come from a galant vr4, 1g awd or even a ggsx? Can I just take an old rear strut/shock from a front wheel drive galant or eclipse? Thanks in advance.

As long as the mounting design is identical to the GVR-4/DSM and will fit between the ears of the Evo strut I don't see why not.

So, if the mounting design and bushing size fits between the evo shocks, it would be okay to use.
So it does not have to be from a gvr4 or any dsm? It could be from a toyota rear shock absorber for instance?

I can confirm that the FWD rear bushing is not the same as the AWD piece that you need. When trying to hunt down some for my evo struts, a guy sent me some FWD bushings and they were a lot smaller than the ones that you need. They didn't fit in between ears of the strut.

As Whoodoo says, you need the ones from an AWD car. Reason is, the inside diameter on the fwd is smaller & won't fit.

Also to add I think the bushing inter piece is also a tapered cone shape as well. I think.... damn getting old and not worked on my car enough.
