Do you not have a catalytic converter in your exhaust? I've seen people get pretty damn close to passing CO emissions without a cat. Combine cat + good tune and you'll pass without any problems.

Or get a note from Mitsubishi and get collector plates and never deal with it.

I still rock Iowa plates... so when the time comes I'm sure I'll have to jump some hoops.

A 3" Megan "racing" catback makes no difference on vehicle emissions. They are a function of the health and tune of your engine, and the use of a catalytic converter. I would think a mostly stock engine and Federally compliant exhaust system should have no trouble passing emissions, given a simple tuneup. If you car fails, and you've got a legitimate cat installed, get your engine tuned right.

I passed here in commifornia with a fairly heavily modified car including a full three inch turbo back with a high flow cat. You should be able to pass there with no issue on a proper tune.

No cat at all straight 3" but if dudes not trash talkin about collector plates then ima do that? Wats the how to on gettin collector plates wat does mitsubishi have to have written just that theyr limited editions?

Why not borrow a stock exhaust for emissions? I might have one laying around at a buddy's shop. If I dnt I'm sure some local members have one

Unless you know something I don't Diego, you'll never be able to get collecter plates on a VR4 in colorado. My understanding is that since ex-governor Bill Ritter was in office, the law was changed. It used to be that if a vehicle survived to be 25 years old and could pass emissions, they would give you the plates and they were good for seven years. You would never have to emission it again as long as you kept the registration current. Now, the vehicle has to be a 1975 model year or older, and they don't care about emissions at all, because emissions wasn't a concern for vehicles made back then. But I could be wrong.

I havnt had it tested yet but im hearin alot of talk about having to have a cat.....anyone know anything about the fly by one on i25?

You can't pass without a cat anymore. A few years ago it was possible with a great tune and E85, but they changed the emissions regulations to be a lot more strict in 2008...So even with the best tune known to man, it's highly unlikely you'll pass without a cat. Not to mention that you'll fail the visual inspection since the 1st thing they do is check for a cat.

Like was mentioned before, collectors plates in Colorado are impossible to get for vehicles manufactured after 1975. It's just another one of those stupid f***ing laws that ex governor Ritter imposed before he left office...That and the $25 fine for late registration really piss me off.

Oh yeah I should of looked at the laws here in CO.

I have said paper to get the plates, but as I said way up there^^^ I still rock Iowa plates as I was and always will be afraid I would never pass here in Colorado.
