The AFC intercepts the signal from the airflow sensor and adjusts it via your inputs on the AFC before it sends the signal on to the ECU. If you pull it out without resplicing the airflow signal wire back together, the car won't run well at all. Even if you do splice it back together after AFC removal, if the AFC is being used to tune for larger injectors or a different airflow sensor, it could be even worse.

If you're just asking if the AFC retains its memory if unplugged, I'm not sure. Better to write down all the settings before you unplug it just in case. Then go ahead and move it and plug it back in. If it doesn't retain memory, refer to your notes.

I don't recall the AFC needing a battery connection, it gets its power from the ECU when powered up. That means it has non-volatile memory, so there is no danger of losing your settings if you unplug it.

I've had an old-style AFC unplugged for over a year and a half and it still retained the previous settings. You should be fine.

dude I am in Boston all the time, I was in Boston last night!
Lets meet up!
