'92 #545 Beginning of Powdercoat pics added

Just thought I'd introduced myself to everyone and let you all know I just bought #545 off of Kevin out of Davenport, IA. Made the trip in a winter storm waring and made it back ok. Two hours of cleaning have been done and I'll be going on three tonight to get all the salt off. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/uhh.gif I can't wait to put it up on the stands and clean the under body. It was well worth my trip and I'd like to thank Terry for all his info. I'm not new to these by any means though. Currently have a '92 and '95 TSi and #545 makes my third 4G63 car. My collection is complete for now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/applause.gif

I most likely will be removing all the piping and most likely the whole front bumper to give it a good cleaning.

Quoting Hertz:
Put some extra love into cleaning those IC pipes for me.

Those pipes were a master piece of work by Chris (boostinhard) Keep em shiny lol.

Welcome to the board Nolan, good to know you already got started on the salt clearing. Also glad to know you made it back safely along with #545. Hope you get the same enjoyment if not more out of the car.

I like to deal with DSMTuners more so than WIDSM. Got sick of all the extra BS on WIDSM. To many smart a** remarks. I've owned a 4G63 powered car since I was 16 and got treated like I knew nothing. To continue on... I completed the exterior cleaning last night only took another hour and a half. Guess I'm a little anal. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif I took off the heat shield last night and brought it to work with me today to get some high temp powdercoat. I will be ordering the stainless so I can make my new intake pipe sometime this next week hopefully. No offence intended to you Kevin but the PVC pipe intake just wasn't cutting it for me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The home depot racing intake was a temporary fix at best. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif

I kept finding pipes for Kevin but school had cut into his fun money so deep, he could not spend the coin.

Hopefully you wont have too many other issues like that to deal with.

There was something else I noticed last night Terry. Can't remember off the top of my head but when I do I'll ask you about it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Yea, the pvc was custom man! Don't hate! haha. For awhile when I tried looking for a nice pipe for that particular section, it would sell. Then when one popped up, I would no longer have the funds to spend. I always thought they ran alittle high in price too just for that small of a pipe. I still have an email saved from terry I believe, from a guy that has one and doesnt need it. Glad to hear your already taking care of the car.

Is the brewery still open in Monroe? Maybe host a meet and we can sample the local brew...

The brewery is still open! Good stuff to I might add. There is also one in New Glarus. Got the front bumper cover off tonight. I will be powder coating the mounting brackets tomorow...oh wait I guess today. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I need some sleep.

Just thought I would add that I believe Madison Sports Car Club will be at the track I believe two times this year. Maybe I'll get time to play with at least one of my cars this year.

That would be a negative...not Blackhawk though I believe they have an event there as well. Im talking about where I work. Sugar River Raceway.

I got my brackets powder coated. I'll be posting pics after work hopefully. I also figured out last night how close I was to almost having to do a lot of work splicing a wiring harness back together. The intake filter was rubbing on the harness and was almost through to two wires. I'll post a pic of that as well.

I found out I have a pretty big mess of potential wiring issues. Since I have some time over the next couple months I will be beginning my complete wire tuck. I will post pics as soon as I get a chance.

Where is the wiring issues? Can you take pics? I don't recall seeing anything.

I'll take some when I get home. It's nothing bad on your part. It just isn't up to par with me. I'm very picky about how things are done. I also think I already found the reason the battery wouldn't hold a charge. Nothing to big to fix.

Potential Wiring Issue

Another rats nest.

Don't want to hurt your feelings, but these are a no-no. Possible cause of syncro failure. Without proper bushings the cables are allowed to move excessively up and down on the shaft. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif I will have my bushings in by next week.
