1G AWD TCU, all EPROM??

Were all 1G AWD TCU's EPROM, or were they both EPROM and non-EPROM??
Take the MD750092 TCU. Did that TCU came in boch EPROM and non-EPROM, or was it EPROM only??

Unlike galant vr4's, only some dsm tcu/ecu's are eprom.

The sticker on the front of the tcu/ecu with the part number will have an "E" on the bottom right . Do you have a pic?

Whoa whoa are you saying that all Galant VR4 ECUs are eprom?

Hold on a sec, TCU = Transmission Control Unit to me/us in the US.

Since you are in Europe where G rides came with auto trannies are you referring to this or the ECU ( Engine Control Unit )?

Yes, All original usdm Gvr4 ECU's are eprom. I don't know about other regions. some where replaced at the dealer for cap leakage issues by former owners or have had "re-man" ecu's exchanged, those are more than likely going to be non-eprom. the Originals however, are all eprom.

This guy locally to me has 2 of them for sale and a VR-4 harness for like $100.

Would the "trade in" ECU have the same serial number or a different one?

Thanks,
Alan

P.S. If this guy has two legitimate eprom ECUs, SouthCaliVR4 you get one for free.

Open them up and have a look. If it looks like this then its an eprom.

Every TCU I have seen has been an Eprom unit. But you still need to replace the caps on it as well.

Yeah I know about those caps that leak acid. Are leaky caps as usual on the TCU's as on the ECU's, or is it more usual on the ECU's than on the TCU's??

So. When I find a TCU with for example part number MD750092 or MD754076 and it's a EPROM unit, does it then mean that all TCU's with that part number are EPROM unit's?? Or can they also be non-EPROM units regardless if another TCU with that part number is a EPROM unit??

Ok, that changes some of the responses.

Since none of the USDM VR4's came with auto boxes you may have to get opinions from DSM owners or maybe the Down Under/NZ fellas.
