I love that color silver as we didn't get it on VR-4s in the states, we did get Kensington grey which is darker however. I would keep it the same silver if I were you. Makes it more original in this hemisphere at least. Good luck!

Nice man. Looks like that FMIC has seen better days.

I was in Dominica about a year ago and saw some pretty sweet EDM/JDM cars when i was there.

Good luck with the car and take some after pics when it's done.

That's the part I hate

That's going to be a very nice ride when you get it done.

edit Do you have a heat shield for that exhaust manifold? I'm thinking of getting that same manifold, and I haven't resolved the heat shield situation to my satisfaction yet.

If you will not be running a heat shield on the exhaust mani, may I humbly suggest that you re-install the hood heat shield/insulation?

It would be a shame to have your fresh paint damaged from all that heat your new set-up will produce.

Well the under hood insulation was already gone b4 i bought the car. I will have to fabricate something.

Thanks for the link sag...i was talking to my friends about getting one last night since they were asking me how am i going to handle re-installation and dealing with oil once the new paint goes on the car

Nice car and even nicer mod list! What rims are on the car in those pics? They look reminiscent of Mercedes wheels to me.

Well i finally got my head off and More bad news for this car

All the valves were bent (Previous owner had the car off timing)
It seems like they had noticed it, because the block was freshly honed, new piston rings & bearings were there, and the head gasket looked mint. Then i turned to the transmission. A piece had broken off at the point where the transmission bolts at the top most point at the front of the block. will post pictures later when i get the camera

I had a 7 bolt N/T engine lying around so i decided to use the valves from that in the mean time, Now i'm tryin to decide what to do....Rods/pistons, stroker and whether i should buy a 1G tranny and transfercase and get it built. I drive shaft is still missing. There was also quite a bit of hacking done in the wiring which i am sorting out and redoing.

Please, inspect the valve guides carefully before installing fresh valves.

Many times, they crack the extended portion in the port area when the valves bend, as they get side loaded something fierce when the valves are playing paddy-cake with the pistons. I've seen bits of guide break off months later and trash the chamber or they'll go thru the turbo, (kinda, sorta), with predictable results

My offer of coming down with any and all parts to help you repair your car still stands.

You've got a really well thought out and considered approach to your build!

Can you wait 'till December, when it's colder here?

Haha thats my friend with the 2001 VR4....he was thinking shit i gotta make my car faster before this thing hits the road.

I'm taking the head out and strip it to get hot tanked. I have one cousin coming for summer....i was hopeing to make him bring cams, a new turbo and my wideband.

I'm just gonna use the parts off the other head and baby the car. Need to have it running so i can get extra income. so i don't mind babying it till i get enough money to finish the job completely. I have considered purchasing a front clip and building that engine from the ground up to be what i want, then just swap it over.
