car won't idle past couple of minutes then will only restart when cold, fire away!!

First thing that pops out is that the tps is reading 10% with no rpms. Doubt it's the whole issue, but an inaccurate tps signal will confuse the ecm.

No, it should read 0% or about .55-.6V. This can be set idling or not.

if 0% is 0.5V approx, then 100% [WOT] is just 4.5V approx? and not 5V?

the way i understand it is that the tps is set at [not-so] closed throttle then manually rotated to target the 0.5V to 'simulate' 10% throttle opening after the idle position switch is set [3/4 CW turn more after continuity of the switch]?

i may be wrong...

No. The ecu expects to see a 0% tps at no throttle. The idle switch is used to tell the ecm it's closed throttle while driving to raise the idle while coasting for better drivability. Yes, WOT should read around 4.5V, but can go up to 5V.

Pretty sure DSM link emulates a 0 reading for tps and raw numbers are around 10.7 at closed throttle.

The raw voltage should read as Ryan said, ~.5v at closed throttle and ~5v at WOT. If your raw voltages vary from those numbers by .2v or more, you should consider adjusting your TPS.

I will need to look into this as well, my datalogger reads my TPS at like 14% at closed throttle. I can't read the voltage with it, I will have to do it the only fashioned way.

Before my throttle body was rebuilt it also read around 10% when closed. WOT would only read 90%.

You can use a multimeter to check the voltage output, so you don't have to have a logger. The problem with logging software if that every application will read differently, so it's pretty much impossible to compare a datalogger to ECMlink, and so on. The percentage numbers for ECMlink just correlate to what ECMlink is telling the ECU tps voltage correlates to. It really doesn't mean anything. This value can also be skewed depending on if you've screwed with the scalar at all. As for the datalogging application, the who knows what the percentages actually mean. I wouldn't even worry about it; I'd just grab a multimeter and calibrate the tps so I knew it was correct.

With a basic palm datalogger, the TPS will read roughly ~10% at idle. Should still read (90%+)WOT when operated to that point too.

Link and other standalones, should read whatever they are setup for.

What you need to know is the voltage at the sensor.

Here is the formula I found on the interwebs: " 5v * 0.1 = 0.5v = 10% "

You are looking for 0.45V-0.55V adjusted for a 1G ECU at idle.

Check your throttle cable for adjustment, and while are there, might as well check the Idle Stop Switch for proper adjustment. Outlined in this thread below.

yes, it is better to calibrate it the 'hard way', to remove any gains and offsets used by logging or tuning software...
